Mairehau's Merilicious Market

For Mairehau"s Market, Abbie, Tyra and I had an adventure of making playdough to sell on the day of the Market. All the year 9's had a few weeks to get prepared to make a product to sell. My group had a few things we wanted to make but decided on playdough. In the few weeks we had to get prepared we made signs, labels and got all the things we needed to make for the playdough. Once we were already to make our playdough we had a whole day to make it and package it, we needed to be already that day because the market was happening that night. We sold almost all of our playdough and what was left we gave it to the media teacher since she uses it for her teaching. We made about $20 and we will split that between Abbie, tyra and I. I had a great time making the playdough and selling it, can't wait till next year when we can do it again.

Short Story-Rosa

Short Story - Question & Clarify

Neglect

Questions (wonderings)

Clarify (meanings)

The windscreen wipers worked furiously to clear the glass from the driving rain. It was no use, he still couldn’t see, so he pulled into a side street and waited for the pelting sheet to ease.

Flicking through the radio, a wavering squeal emerged, quickly changing into a fast beated pop song.  Jonesie, as he was called on the rank, shuffled lower into his seat and settled down to waited. Looking up to change the crackling station, he noticed a brown-coated figure huddling in the meagre shelter of a deserted warehouse. Jonesie studied the figure and decided, being a kind-hearted man, that he would try and do something to help.

As Jonesie neared, the brown-coated figure started to shift uneasily, looking up with fearful brown eyes.

“You look pretty cold out here, would you like to come and sit in my taxi till the rain eases off a bit?”, Jonesie asked sincerely.

After waiting a bit and receiving no reply, Jonesie headed back for the warmth of the taxi. When he neared the car, he noticed someone behind him and turning around saw that the brown-coated figure had followed him to the car.

“So you decided to come then, eh mate?”, Jonesie queried heavily, as he helped the figure into the passenger seat.  Closing the door, Jonesie thought about what might happen to this poor guy.

In the car, Jonesie changed the station yet again finding a country song he thoroughly enjoyed. After the song had finished, he flicked the radio off and turned to his bedraggled guest, noticing that his bones almost protruded through the coat.

“So, aye, where do you come from then mate?”, inquired Jonesie. “That’s if you don’t mind me asking?”

His only reply was the turning of the brown-coated figures head, to stare wonderingly out into the menacing dark sky.

Jonesie tried again, “Eh, um, what’s ya name then?”

The brown-coated figure turned his head in the direction of Jonesie and blinked his fearful brown eyes in reply.

Silence followed, Jonesie thinking of what he could do for his silent guest.

Jonesie flicked on the radio again, it crackled and hissed, and then resumed into some teenage trash.

“Come on mate, you must be starving. Lets take ya home and give ya some tucker”, Jonesie said.

The brown-coated figure did not move and his answer was only a deep sigh.

The rain had eased and as they drove, the road glistened like oil. Jonesie had finished his shift, so there were no problems. When they got inside his house, Jonesie helped the figure to dry himself, but he never took his coat off.  Jonesie thought this a bit odd but made no further inquiries.  He prepared a meal and the brown- coated figure warmed himself in front of the blazing fire.

Six months later, the brown-coated figure and Jonesie spend every night in the taxi, listening to the crackling radio and sharing long conversations with many pauses and deep sighs of reply.

The fearful brown eyes are fearful no more and the ragged, tatty coat has been replaced by a thick, warm one.

Jonesie and the brown-coated figure spend all their time together, after all, dogs are a mans best friend.

  1. Copy and paste the link into your search bar and watch the cartoon.

  1. For each scene summarize what you can see

Scene One:

At home

I can see a small space and dim light. It reminds me of the burrows I have seen on tv that animals dig out as their home. I can see they are all huddled together so there is not a lot of room. The inside of the burrow is brown so it is dirt that has been dug under the ground.

Scene Two

 First activity of the day

While the leader of the very cute meerkats tries to get the fruit for them to eat,  the rest of the meerkats are staring at the fruit like it's the best thing they have seen.

Scene Three:

A feared enemy

Then a scary looking vulture came along and scared away all the innocent meerkats. The vulture glares down from the tree at the frightened meerkats. With its sharp claws the vulture picks the delicious fruit the meerkats wanted from the tree and flies away.

Scene Four:

Enemies revenge

The meerkats now want revenge, a charge at the vulture with the fist in the air. One of the meerkats jumps up onto the vulture's claw and tries to take back their fruit but fails. So then the next meerkat tries but does not let go. The meerkats end up forming a human ladder all holding on to the meerkat in front of them. The vulture flies even higher with all the meerkats behind her. Going higher and higher, up to the clouds.

Scene Five:

The Rescue

Then the vulture flings the meerkats into the air. The meerkats start to fall to the ground drying to get the fruit. They catch the fruit and pass it around trying not to get the vulture to get it, while still falling. The vulture gets the fruit back and flys back up to the air but then the meerkats fall onto the vulture.

Scene Six:

Sport nirvana

The vulture flings meerkats off and then the vulture mashes into a wall with the fruit dropping from its claw. The meerkats got the fruit!.

Scene Seven:

The End

The meerkats happily walk away with its fruit then accidentally kicks it in the air. The fruit falls to the ground and mashs!. It was all for nothing.

Seagulls are very clever; they remember, learn and even pass on beavours. Seagulls communicate with other seagulls by body movements and vocalisation.

Seagulls are on logos of a few schools that are by the beach.

What is a group of seagulls called?

A group of seagulls is called a colony.

Summery

My mascot is a seagull;  firstly the seagull is a loving, caring and hungry bird that is very clever, secondly a group of seagulls is called a colony and lastly Seagulls are afraid of owls because of their eyes.

Book review

Book Review

Image result for the maze runner bookTitle: The Maze Runner Fiction
Author: James Dashner
Genre: Dystopia Non fiction

Synopsis: This book is about a Dystopian society, a world that has  gone wrong. The creators of the maze have put the teenages in a life or death situation to see if they can escape. However, when they get put in the maze they lose all their memory but their name. Thomas who is the main character is somehow different from the others but he just remembers to stay away from the Grevers.

Favourite Part: My favourite part is when Thomas, Minho and Alby get stuck in the maze overnight and have to try to survive without the Grevers trying to shred them apart.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book for age 12 and over because it has a bit of bad language and it's a bit gory in some parts, but overall it is a great book  and has a great story to it.

Rating  1 strongly disagree 2 disagree 3 neutral  4 agree  5 strongly agree

Make a good movie                                 Page turner

Nail-biter                                               Satisfactory ending

Conclusion: This is my favourite book and I recommend it to everyone who loves dystopia. There are 3 books in the series and I got told they are almost as good as the first one. I wish I could read this book every day. I am going to start reading the next book in the series and I will see how good it actually is.
